National policy on Education in its programme of action 1986, strongly felt the need of professional development and training of the teachers of higher education in India. Therefore to have an inbuilt mechanism for effective teacher training the University Grants Commission came up with the scheme of establishing Academic Staff Colleges (ASCís) in 1986, the U.G.C. established 51 ASCís. The Human Resource Development Centre, Nagpur (Formerly known as Academic Staff College, Nagpur) was established in1988 as autonomous unit by UGC under the patronage of RTM Nagpur University Nagpur. Since then UGC-HRDC RTMNU Nagpur has been putting its untiring efforts in its endeavour for the capacity building of itís participants in the various programmes those are being offered at the Institute.
Education is a way to acquire knowledge, experience, and skill. We are witnessing that the rapid pace with which ICT is advancing in the Higher Education Space in our country, the expectations from the teaching fraternity has been raised by many folds. Academic Training institutes have a very vital role to play and to be instrumental in providing cutting edge knowledge of educational technology to the academic as well as non academic staff of various educational institutes of the country.
The participants not only given best possible theoretical aspects of ICT techniques but to acquire the practical methodology completely, enough emphasis is given on the hands-on sessions as well. HRDC Nagpur is not leaving any stone unturned in order to expose its participants to the best of Resource persons in various disciplines of higher education.
HRDC Nagpur has very well understood its catalytic role in imparting knowledge and owned the responsibility to meet the purpose and philosophy with which scheme of HRDCs was started before more than 25 years.
We at HRDC Nagpur are fully committed and shall be In line with the objectives to become a quality assured system for capacity building, continuous knowledge enhancement, and new strategies of governance for promotion of innovations and creativity as per the guidelines by UGC.
